What you'll learn

Overall health

A bathroom scale tells you weight, but not what that weight is made of. DEXA separates fat from lean tissue and shows how fat is distributed throughout your body — including around your organs, which is more relevant to health than total weight alone. It's a more honest starting point for any health conversation.

Performance

If you train, your weight on the scale can move in confusing ways. DEXA shows whether you're gaining muscle, losing fat, or both — and lets you track real changes over time rather than guessing. It's the same measurement tool used in sports science and research.

Longevity

Muscle isn't just for athletes. Lean muscle mass is increasingly recognized as one of the strongest markers of healthy aging — tied to strength, metabolism, mobility, and resilience as the years go on. Knowing where you stand now means you can protect and build it intentionally.

Bone density

DEXA is the clinical gold standard for measuring bone density, and it can reveal early signs of bone loss long before they'd otherwise be noticed. Understanding your bone health early gives you the most options to support it.

What your report will look like

Your DEXA report turns the scan into clear, usable numbers. Most people receive a report that includes:

  • Total body composition your overall fat mass, lean (muscle) mass, and body fat percentage.
  • Regional breakdown how fat and muscle are distributed across your arms, legs, and trunk, so you can see balance and any left-to-right differences.
  • Visceral fat an estimate of the fat stored around your abdominal organs, which is more closely tied to metabolic health than fat stored just under the skin.
  • Bone density a measurement of your bone mineral content, which can serve as a baseline for bone health over time.
  • Easy comparisons over time if you scan again later, your results can be compared side by side, so you can see exactly what's changed.

We'll walk you through what each number means, in plain language, with no pressure and no judgment.
