About
About Wayne DEXA
Wayne DEXA is a physician-founded, direct-access body composition and bone density clinic in Wayne, PA, serving the Philadelphia Main Line. We opened it so anyone nearby can get precise, objective measurement — without a referral, an insurance process, or hidden fees.
Our mission
We believe people make better decisions about their health when they have better information. A scale and a mirror can only tell you so much; a DEXA scan shows what your body is actually made of — fat, lean muscle, and bone — with clinical accuracy.
Too often, that measurement sits behind a referral, an insurance process, and uncertainty about cost. We built Wayne DEXA as a direct-access clinic to remove those barriers: clear pricing, simple online scheduling, and a calm, unhurried visit. No preparation, no judgment, and no agenda — just a clear picture of where you are today and a baseline you can build on.
We measure; we don’t prescribe, diagnose, or sell a program. Your results are yours, presented plainly and easy to share with the physicians already involved in your care.
Our physicians
Wayne DEXA is founded and overseen by Dr. David Bigley, DO, and Dr. Alexandra Cohn, MD. They founded the clinic to make precise, objective body composition measurement directly available on the Main Line — without a referral or an insurance process. In Pennsylvania, every DEXA scan requires a physician order — ours provide it in-house, so each scan is physician-ordered and physician-read, with no outside referral to chase.
The clinic is co-located with Forward Family Medicine, a direct primary care practice in Wayne, Pennsylvania. That physician grounding shapes how we approach the work: measurement done carefully, results explained honestly, and boundaries kept clear about what a scan can and can’t tell you.
The technology
DEXA — dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry — is a highly accurate, reproducible method used in clinical and research settings to measure body composition and bone density. It works by passing a low-dose dual-energy X-ray over the body and measuring how different tissues absorb it, which lets it separate fat, lean tissue, and bone.
That accuracy and consistency are what make DEXA valuable not just for a single snapshot but for tracking change over time. The scan itself takes about ten minutes, requires no fasting, and involves only a very low dose of radiation.
A complete DEXA scan is $250 — flat, with no referral or insurance needed.
